Bannon Faces 4 Months in Prison

A federal judge has ordered Stephen K. Bannon, a longtime ally of former President Donald Trump, to report to prison by July 1st. The order was issued after Bannon was found guilty of contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th attack on the Capitol. Bannon faces four months in prison for his actions.

A federal judge will hear arguments on Thursday on whether Bannon should be allowed to remain free while he appeals his contempt conviction. Bannon's lawyers have argued that he should be allowed to remain free because he is not a flight risk and poses no threat to the community. Prosecutors, however, have argued that Bannon should be jailed immediately because he has shown a "flagrant disregard" for the law.

Bannon played a key role in Trump's 2016 campaign and later served as chief strategist in the White House. He has remained a vocal supporter of Trump since leaving the administration.
