Chad Daybell Found Guilty of First-Degree Murder

Jury Delivers Verdict After Lengthy Trial

Guilty on All Charges

A jury in Idaho found Chad Daybell guilty of first-degree murder in the killings of his ex-wife Tammy Daybell and Joshua "JJ" Vallow, 7, on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

The verdict concludes Daybell's nearly two-month trial, which focused on the deaths of his former spouse and his two stepchildren in 2019. The prosecution had argued that Daybell planned and carried out the murders as part of a religious belief that he and Tammy Daybell were destined to be together in the afterlife.

The jury deliberated for several days before reaching a verdict. Daybell faces life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder charges. He was also found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and grand theft.

Daybell's co-defendant, Lori Vallow Daybell, was tried separately and found guilty of all charges related to the killings of her children on May 12, 2023.

The verdict marks a significant milestone in the investigation into the deaths of the two children, who had been missing for several months before their bodies were discovered. The case has captivated national attention due to its bizarre circumstances and the alleged involvement of religious extremism.
